The Shadow of the Erdtree addition, part of the Elden Ring DLC, has been announced; a release date and other details will be provided later. Shadow of the Erdtree, the first significant DLC addition after the free Colosseum update that enabled PVP combat and a sort of matchmaking system, appears to be focused on the Erdtree itself in a burned and weakened condition.
Despite the lack of information around the Elden Ring DLC, we meticulously examined everything to extract as much information as we could so that you would be prepared for the next Lands Between expansion.
The free Colosseum update for Elden Ring DLC, which was launched on December 7th, 2022, allowed players to engage in combat within the massive arenas scattered throughout the Lands Between. This was the game’s first significant DLC update.
Beyond that, the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring is the following significant DLC addition. This DLC has been mentioned, although there are few specifics available. To discover everything that has so far been released about that, scroll down!
The first press release for Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC merely stated that it was “under production,” therefore there is currently no formal date for its release. The most we can do at this moment is compare the release dates of previous FromSoftware titles with those of their first DLC to see how long it took for them to be released.

A figure with blonde hair may be seen approaching the burned-out Erdtree in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC advertising image from atop Torrent. Although obscure, this person appears to be significant given the emphasis with which they are depicted. In light of this, the following list of potential identities for the figure on Torrent and their implications for the DLC are provided.
MIQUELLA
The most likely candidate for the identity of the enigmatic visitor is MIQUELLA, the heavenly brother of the legendary deadly swordswoman and goddess of rot Malenia. Miquella is frequently mentioned in Elden Ring but is never given a formal introduction. Miquella attempted to reverse his sister’s rot and his curse of endless youth by building the Haligtree and going inside it.
Nevertheless, Mohg kidnaps Miquella and has been keeping watch for him to awaken ever since, expecting him to become his consort and rise to power as a result. As the Empyrean has been a glaring omission and somewhat of a ticking time bomb in Elden Ring history, Miquella’s blonde hair, which is briefly visible in-game, matches that of the woman in the promotional image.
DEATHBED COMPANION, FIA The warm-hearted hug lady who loiters around Roundtable Hold has her quest that is concerned with death, deterioration, and the reappearance of undead gods. Although her mission can be completed in the main game, it’s highly feasible that she’ll return. Fia is blonde under her hood, as seen in the photo, and given how desolate the scene appears as a whole, it’s plausible that she is en route to capitalize on the general necromantic, the entropic atmosphere of the area.
MALENIA: The super-boss, is a redhead like her father Radagon when we first encounter her, although it’s entirely plausible that wasn’t always the case. We might be seeing a past or future Malenia without the rot, a demigod cursed with the Scarlet Rot by a higher deity. Malenia may have originally had blonde hair like her mother and brother and developed red hair as a result of the curse
The real ruler of the Lands Between is a blonde woman named Queen Marika, whose hair is remarkably similar to the new figures in the entrance cinematic. Depending on the Elden Ring DLC ending you selected, Marika’s destiny changed, but once more, we wouldn’t rule out FromSoftware setting this DLC in the distant past or future. She has a strong connection to Erdtree, thus it makes reasonable that she would be interested.
MELINA – Even though the blonde figure doesn’t exactly like Melina, the Finger Maiden who aids in levelling up, there are a few details to consider. First off, Melina is the only character who will give you control of Torrent.
It’s a little challenging to pinpoint exactly what Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC’s content and plot are. Together with the title, the intriguing advertising image hints that Erdtree will serve as the main subject of the upcoming expansion. It depicts the Erdtree in a shrunken, ashy state.
Lastly
This would make sense given that, regardless of which ending the player chooses, the Elden Ring tale finishes with them setting the Erdtree on fire to pass the roots obstructing the path to the Elden Ring DLC itself within. Even if it’s only speculation on our part, the fact that the Erdtree appears scorched and malnourished strongly suggests that the DLC will take place after Elden Ring’s main tale.
The second theory holds that the “Shadow of the Erdtree” is merely a colourful name for the Haligtree that the god Miquella planted in the Consecrated Snowfields. After Miquella’s nap, the Haligtree has wilted and degenerated, and what we see in the promotional image may be the Haligtree in a particularly weakened state.
